A (creative) director with a passion for documentary

“Janna has been a people’s person since the day she was born”, according to her mom. Next to her studies she participated in multiple theatre productions as a writer and director. At the Hallo academy she discovered her love for conceptual thinking, and started as a creative team at BSUR Amsterdam in 2010. Creating national & international ad campaigns for brands like Glenmorangie, Libresse, & Marriot hotels.

In 2016 she joined VIRTUE, the creative agency of VICE, to create culturally relevant work and focus on documentary storytelling. Ever since her passion for human stories has grown, leading to her documentary short film ‘When the birds are gone’ at the MET film school in Berlin. Since 2021 Janna works as an independent director and creative director; always trying to show the beauty and vulnerability of life.
