A creative & director with a passion for documentary
Bio
I’m Janna Stolp, a versatile Dutch creative director turned documentary filmmaker, focused on human stories. After years at award-winning agencies like BSUR and Virtue (by VICE Media), I swapped the ad world for film in 2020, exploring female and taboo topics.
When not working on a film, you’ll find me brainstorming ideas (I can’t help it – it’s in my blood), crafting treatments, or getting inspired by the people and cultures around me.
In 2024, I moved from Amsterdam to Nairobi, diving headfirst into a new adventure. That same year, I completed my short film But You Were There, about the emotional impact of miscarriage. (Yes, it was a busy year.)
Based in Kenya (GMT+3), I am open to freelance or interim projects globally or in the East African region.
Fun fact? I can still shed a tear or laugh out loud watching Friends – even after 100+ episodes. Oh, and I speak a little Swahili now!
